The OneLM Transformation (1LMX) effort is an internal transformation project that will change the way LM is doing business across all business areas. This includes system modernization, consolidation of Business Area processes & practices and cutting edge IT and engineering implementation.

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full-time, partially-remote, experienced Quality Engineer to be a part of a team of quality engineers that are reengineering the way Quality professionals work across the entire value stream and product lifecycle.

You will work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure Quality processes are well-defined, redesigned in our PLM System and deployed to programs. This role will primarily be designing the Model-based Quality Engineering capabilities in the 3DX/Dassault ecosystem. This role will focus and specialize on Quality Planning Processes and Methods (test, inspection, first article, source, receiving, etc.)

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for ensuring quality engineering input is accounted for and modeled appropriately in all value chains such that the total Cost of Quality (CoQ) is right-sized throughout the life of a program. Working with management, design engineering, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, and sustainment the model-based quality engineer provides input to the contract review processes, requirements distillation processes, program planning processes, product design processes, product quality planning processes, supplier quality / sourcing activities, and sustainment operations.

Key deliverables of a model-based quality engineer:

• Leverage keen knowledge of aerospace, mechanical, and/or structural engineering to collaborate with design engineering throughout the design maturing and release processes to identify and define proper datum schemes, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), key characteristics, statistical tolerancing, and other requirements of concern

• Identify and correct inspectability issues of designs prior to engineering release

• Create first article inspection datasets for parts requiring first article inspection (FAI) within the product lifecycle management (PLM) system

• Identify inspection technology choices and options to downstream facilities and planning organizations

• Create and manage sampling plans and assign to relevant product characteristics so production planning can plan the details of the shop floor work instructions

• Use the digital thread to model impacts from expected quality performance levels on the program’s production system and schedule and coordinate changes as required to product designs or manufacturing plans.

• Assess programs’ readiness states against quality readiness level (QRL) gates for model-based programs throughout their acquisition lifecycle

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors in Engineering or Program Management.

Experience in verification planning and process validation in a manufacturing or supply operations industry.

Desired Skills:

Experience with industry standards for Quality Management (e.g. AS9100, AS9145, AS9102, ASME, ANSI, DCMA 8210)

Ability to derive inspection requirements from GD&T, process specifications and other sources.

Ability to develop and plan various forms of verification methods and instructions for supplied and make parts.

Familiarity with PLMs and Planning software.

Experience outside LM as a Quality Engineering Planner or with automotive APQP/PPAP Processes.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
