We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation rotorcraft.

This position is onsite in Fort Worth, TX.

Bell is working with Virgin Galactic to realize their vision of revealing the wonder of space to more people than ever before. Bell is designing and manufacturing a key section of VG's next generation Delta Class spaceship. Bell is leveraging knowledge from our deep history of innovative aerospace development to design and build Virgin Galactic’s production spaceship.

What you’ll be doing as a Build Team Engineer:

  • Coordinate teams from engineering, materials and processes, manufacturing engineering, tooling, technical fellows, instrumentation, operations, and quality across multiple Bell sites, including international sites, to support manufacturing goals.

  • Participate in drawing reviews and provide manufacturing signatures for engineering releases to ensure parts are optimized for Bell's manufacturing facilities, equipment, people and processes, and ensure they comply with quality processes and plans.

  • Support pre-planning and build sequencing to inform production planning and ensure a manufacturable design.

  • Execute manufacturing in Bell shops by providing direct support to shop floor personnel, solving challenges on the fly, planning and executing risk mitigation strategies.

  • Focus on process improvement and efficiency in both shop and office processes (like design reviews, manufacturing feedback to design, etc.) to optimize schedules.

  • Assist with aircraft configuration management and ensure the manufacturing bill of materials meets engineering definition requirements.

  • Identify priorities based on program milestones and need dates and develop appropriately prioritized and scoped project plans to resolve high-risk and schedule-critical issues.

  • Collaborate with project engineering team to manage shop capacity and monitor risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities to level-load.

  • Actively synchronize manufacturing lessons learned across multiple Bell sites to ensure consistency across the program.

Qualifications

Skills You Bring To this Role:

Detailed knowledge of manufacturing technologies and engineering principles should include some, but not necessarily all the following:

  • Project management, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Assembling the right people/knowledge/skillsets to help solve problems and asking the right questions to get to solutions.

  • Composites Manufacturing Processes (understanding the chemical, material, and thermal processes)

  • Airframe Manufacturing and Assembly

  • Drilling & machining operations

  • Proficiency with GD&T interpretation, application, and general part sizing

  • Familiarity with MRP, Planning, Manufacturing and Procurement processes

  • Aerospace Design, Materials, Tooling, and Processes

  • Additive manufacturing

  • Familiarity with CATIA V6 / 3DX CAD processes and ENOVIA

  • Advanced Inspection Technologies (NDI, metrology, etc)

  • Project scheduling experience with MS Project and / or PPM

  • Statistics and application of quality control principles

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Science, or other closely related Engineering discipline may also be considered.

  • 5 years of experience in aerospace engineering design or manufacturing engineering.

  • Positive, solutions-oriented attitude.

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills.
