Description
Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is currently seeking an Instructional Coach for our preschool special education program located in Fredonia (and will include some travel to our Angola location). This position will assist the School Building Leader in the support of high-quality instructional programming that supports best practices and our Early Childhood Program's educational philosophy and curriculum. The Instructional Coach will collaborate with the School Building Leader to ensure an effective learning environment.
Essential Functions:
Mentor classroom teams based on performance observations and recommendations from the School Building Leader
Trains and supports staff to utilize and implement BHSC’s adopted curriculum and instructional technology via in-service and on the job classroom support.
Assist teachers in the development and implementation of positive classroom management strategies, DIR philosophy, CPI, Pyramid Model and best practices (Universal Supports) under guidance from the School Building Leader.
Maintain high quality standards by ongoing collaborative reflection, accountability systems, and quality improvement practices. Guides staff in use of data to drive quality and purposeful instruction.
Assist School Building Leader in monitoring paperwork including annual reviews, quarterlies, report cards
Support the School Building Leader in monitoring OCFS requirements
Collaborate with ECP Office Coordinator on intake, transportation as needed.
Collaborate with School Building Leader on new referrals, intake process/student placement and parent tours as needed
Assist School Building Leader in hiring, staffing classrooms, and daily coverage
Assist the School Building Leader to lead strategic initiatives to enhance the growth of the program
Knowledge of Special Education preschool classroom practices

Minimum Degree Required: Master’s degree in education
Minimum Experience Required: 5 years working with Early Childhood Education
Required License/Registration/ Certification:Professional or Permanent teaching certification in New York State

Qualifications
Job Summary:The Instructional Coach is responsible for coordinating logistics of educational programming and assisting with continuous accountability and quality improvement, in collaboration with the School Building Leader.
Essential Functions:
Trains staff to utilize and implement BHSCs adopted curriculum and instructional technology via in-service and on the job training in the classroom.
Coordinates curriculum and teaching philosophies implemented in the Early Childhood Programs (such as Floortime, Second Step, Pyramid Model).
Ensures ongoing fidelity to adopted curriculum and philosophies across all disciplines
Develops curriculum resources to support implementation.
Supports School Building Leader in their managerial role of sustaining quality educational programming.
Maintains ongoing communication with staff.
Facilitates training sessions with ECP staff.
Assists with continuous quality improvement and accountability of programming.
Trains staff and coordinates use of technology for instructional purposes. (i.e. Promethean Boards iPads, collaborative data collection, virtual learning)
Guides staff in use of data to drive quality and purposeful instruction.
Supports additional specialized educational programs based on yearly funding. (i.e. Title I teacher, Second Step)
May function as a classroom Teacher, as assigned.
Specific Duties
Assists in development of resources for staff and parents, in alignment with Next Generation Learning Standards, appropriate instructional technology, and methods to support learning.
Supports ordering of materials needed to implement curriculum.
Assists with scheduling and conducting ongoing training with program staff including teachers, aides, and therapists outside and inside the classroom.
Assists School Building Leader in coordinating pre- and post-testing, parent surveys, data collection and classroom observations.
Works in conjunction with Program Directors, School Building Leaders and Lead Teachers to ensure continuous quality improvement of programming (e.g. monitor quality of curriculum implementation by staff and make changes to curriculum based-on staff, parent, and student feedback and performance; assists staff and School Building Leader with progress monitoring of IEP goals)
Monitors implementation of the curriculum, oversees curriculum training, and any curriculum adaptations.
Assists in planning field trips and community inclusion activities.

Graduate Degree in Education or a related field
Required License/ Registration/ Certification:
A certified Special Education Teacher (SWD Birth to Grade 2 or SWD Grade 1-6)
Minimum five years teaching experience
