Job Description:
The Wagener Research Group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Florida (UF), Gainesville, FL, invites applications for one Postdoctoral Associate position in Polymer Chemistry to begin immediately. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Ken Wagener focusing on macromolecular synthesis and polymer properties. This one-year appointment is renewable based on performance and funding availability.
Successful candidates shall have strong synthetic and characterization backgrounds at the molecular and/or material levels and will gain experience in merging molecular and material chemistry. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for conducting research in synthesizing and characterizing polymeric materials. The Postdoctoral Researcher will also be expected to mentor graduate students, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and assist in constructing funding applications. Minimum Requirements:
Ph.D. in Chemistry
Preferred Qualifications:
Molecular and material characterization, including NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, SC-XRD, PXRD, TGA, TEM, and/or SEM
The successful candidate should have a strong background in chemical synthesis and polymerization methodologies
Experience in molecular and material characterization, including NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, SC-XRD, PXRD, TGA, TEM, and/or SEM
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Ability to take initiatives, set priorities, time-manage, and resolve problem
A strong background in chemical synthesis and polymerization methodologies
