Job Description:
The University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning’s mission is to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and childcare. We research, develop, and scale equitable educational innovations for adults and children that put all learners on trajectories for lifelong success. Specifically, the Center targets kindergarten readiness, 3rd grade reading proficiency, and algebra proficiency as critical milestones in children's educational trajectory that are predictive of success in school and life. The Center works at the nexus of research, practice, and policy to develop sustainable systems that leverage educational technologies and improve the implementation of research-based practices. Working in collaboration with the Interactive & Visual Design Team, this position will be responsible for:
Interactive Element Design and Production
Creates graphics for interactive activities in the Flamingo LMS using H5P and native Brightspace features.
Ensures all artistic work follows the correct branding while being inventive and imaginative in developing original and creative products.
Create visually appealing and user-friendly interactive media using software such as Adobe Creative Suite and development tools.
Works with team members to refine and improve the visual elements of the Flamingo LMS.
Stay current with design trends and best practices.
Graphic Design
Creates digital assets, such as graphics and illustrations for print, video, and the web.
Integrate multimedia content (videos, images, audio) into interactive projects.
Edits materials and presentations as needed per client request.
Gain knowledge of current and appropriate styles and skills to design and develop diverse, equitable, and inclusive resources.
Project Management
Confers with internal staff and external partners to discuss and determine necessary parameters for creative aspects of projects.
Attends and participates in creative development meetings as needed with clients.
Uses implemented systems to track, maintain, monitor, and iterate on each product as they progress through the development cycle.
Maintains files and records of design and learning content materials.
Assists with development and creative implementation of NWRI products, videos, and assets.
Gain knowledge or mastery of design and project management software

To achieve this, the Lastinger Center offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule that aligns with the university’s Flexibility in the Workplace Policy. Allowing employees to stagger arrival and departure times as necessary and to vary the number of workdays in the office so long as an employee’s FTE commitment is fulfilled within the university workweek. This policy also allows for occasional, incidental remote work based on individual circumstances.
Expected Salary:
$26.34 - $28.74 hourly
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or any mixture of experience and education equivalence.
Illustration & design expertise (Adobe InDesign and Illustrator)
ADA, accessibility, and brand compliance experience
Equity centered design experience
Superior oral and written communication
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work proactively
Demonstrates the following dispositions highly valued by the Lastinger Center: committed, collaborative, culturally attuned, conscious of practice, curious, change agent
HTML/CSS experience a plus
