Summary NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a A/C Equipment Mechanic to join our team! Responsibilities - Troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions in large-scale commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, utilizing advanced diagnostic techniques - Install and integrate a variety of HVAC/R equipment and systems according to blueprints and manufacturer specifications - Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance on HVAC/R systems, proactively identifying potential issues and optimizing system performance - Calibrate precision instruments and controls to ensure accurate readings and optimal functionality of complex HVAC/R systems - Analyze system performance data to identify inefficiencies, pinpoint potential failures, and propose solutions - Overhaul intricate components within HVAC/R systems - Independently plan and execute testing methodologies to isolate faults, verify repairs, and ensure optimal performance of advanced HVAC/R systems - Select and procure appropriate replacement components, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness for complex HVAC/R systems Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform air conditioner mechanic work, without more than normal supervision. In Addition, applicants must possess Universal Refrigeration Recovery Certification and submit a copy of their certificate in their application package. Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
