Position Summary
The Director of Donor Relations is the lead donor retention officer for the Geneseo Foundation. The position is responsible for creating and refining a highly personalized and innovative stewardship program (including communications, events, and recognition policies, protocols, and programs). Activities will support the advancement division’s and College’s mission, vision, and values, convey the College’s gratitude and provide evidence for donors of their gifts’ ongoing importance and institutional impact. This program operates collaboratively and in concert with the advancement division’s cultivation and solicitation functions, which is shaped by the strategic objectives of the College. The Director of Donor Relations will be an integral member of the advancement division’s senior leadership. We seek candidates who will create a climate that helps attract and is inclusive of all students, including students from historically underrepresented groups and students who have overcome personal challenges. Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment
Previous successful experience in donor relations or a related field.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and organizational skills with superior attention to detail
Strong event planning skills
Ability to be customer service-oriented and bring together various institutional partners with varying interests is essential.
Must be highly collaborative and a team player.
Must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff in support of campus and department mission.
Problem-solving skills, creativity, positivity, and the ability to manage several assignments simultaneously are required qualities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with VIPs, students, and campus constituents is preferable.

Function 1 – Designs, maintains and executes a comprehensive donor relations program at Geneseo.

Function 2 – Executes giving level recognition policies and procedures for the College. Develops, executes, oversees, and tracks the application of space naming, remembrance program, and plaque policies and procedures for the College. Designs and manages donor recognition tools and processes (tracking systems, standardized reports, donor recognition materials, etc.) for donors. Works closely with the Director of College Advancement Communications, the Office of Communications and Marketing, and President’s Office staff to ensure donors’ special recognition.

Function 3 – Orchestrates donor recognition events and activities.

Function 4 – Holds primary responsibility for oversight of Geneseo’s named funds (including both restricted and endowed) in the context of donor relations. Creates and maintains highly organized profiles on all endowed funds including fund intent, use, and donors.
