At Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, clinical research is the basis for virtually all advancement in cancer care. With a network of research sites, we conduct Phase I through Phase 4 clinical trials in all disease indications covering facilities in Arizona and Colorado. We conduct industry sponsored, NCI Co-operative group, MDA network, and Investigator initiated trials across our various locations. Banner MD Anderson has a robust portfolio of pending clinical trials and we are seeking a Senior Trial Activation Program Manager to lead the initiative to activate new clinical trials into our pipeline.

The Senior Trial Activation Program Manager will support all aspects of the trial activation process, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. As new clinical trials enter the pending pipeline, the Senior Trial Activation Program Manager will manage the study as it navigates through various processes and committees, adhering to designated project schedules, and maintaining open communication with all stakeholders. This position provides an opportunity to support the administrative study startup activities while utilizing clinical operations and project management skillsets to bring forth innovative trials to the cancer center network. Schedule : exempt, full-time, Monday - Friday, 40hrs wk, between 7-6pm.

Our WIS and NICU services support an average of 4,000 deliveries per year. Key specialties include oncology, obstetrics, bariatric surgery, emergency and other services that focus on meeting the changing needs of the dynamic and growing community we serve.

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including designation as a Stem Cell Transplant Center of Excellence and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 70 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two-way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will manage project activation of oncology clinical trials run by Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center (BMDACC). This includes project planning and execution, during which this role will schedule activities and project completion dates. This position will lead, coach, motivate, and influence assigned study team members and external vendors to ensure timely completion of high-quality deliverables and accountability for assigned tasks.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Monitors the activation progress of assigned clinical trials using designated tracking tools to determine allowed slack times, critical path deliverables, and key milestone deadlines. Reviews team performance against expectations to proactively identify problems and to determine their potential impacts and proposes potential corrective actions to overcome any hurdles to trial activation.

  2. Provides comprehensive and transparent updates to key stakeholders as to activation progress. Additionally, tracks trends and analyzes data regarding obstacles to activation and proposes initiatives to address hurdles.

  3. Maintains in-depth knowledge of, and skill in applying, applicable clinical research regulatory requirements (i.e. Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines).

  4. Applies core project management principles including PERT and Gantt Charts to activation workflows and processes.

  5. Identifies, builds, maintains, motivates, leads, and inspires teams to achieve high performance and to meet project’s objectives as an indirect leader.

  6. Interacts with individuals at all levels internal and external to BMDACC and is effective in working collaboratively with multidisciplinary groups of colleagues.

  7. Manages multiple projects at various stages and works independently with occasional guidance from leader. Demonstrates ability to deliver high quality results on time and to manage competing priorities.

  8. Trains staff and investigators on trial activation and project management principles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in life/health sciences or related field and six years clinical research experience including four years project management or study coordinator experience and experience in oncology research clinical operations; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Strong organization and documentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Manager) Working knowledge applicable clinical research regulatory requirements; (i.e., Good Clinical Practice (GCP)). Strong understanding of project management principles.

Possess excellent interpersonal skills including leadership, team building, motivation, communication, influencing, decision making, negotiation, trust building, conflict management, and coaching.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable, but not required.

Previous experience in clinical trial activation for oncology trials preferred.

Extensive experience in coordinating clinical studies and generally experienced in clinical research/development, particularly for pharmaceutical or industry-sponsored studies.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
