  • As an Associate Land Consultant based in our Edinburgh, Glasgow or Perth Offices, WSP has an exciting opportunity to join an expanding multi-disciplinary business within a Land team delivering a significant portfolio of energy and roads-based infrastructure projects across the UK.

  • You will be managing land consents for infrastructure development projects at all scales and providing land advice to clients to help de-risk their projects.

  • You will provide leadership on Project Management activities as part of this role covering project financial management, forward forecasting and reporting.

  • You will lead land-related delivery across the full project lifecycle, including land referencing, consents, land access and statutory processes, providing advice as a trusted advisor to clients ensuring that project technical work is delivered to meet quality requirements and deliver robust financial performance.

  • You will provide leadership and direction for WSP Land as part of our growth strategy.

  • You will engage with Key Account Management activities with clients.

  • You will take a leading role in business development with clients and bidding activities.

  • You will provide leadership with the team around training, mentoring and technical assurance.

  • In balance with desktop / Office based work, you will be required to undertake site duties, liaising with landowners and other project stakeholders as part of infrastructure development, particularly in the energy and roads sectors. You may be required on occasion to visit other UK Offices as part of this role.

YOUR TEAM

  • The opportunity sits within our Land team in Scotland which consists of land consultants, land referencers, property specialists and topographical surveyors.

  • We work closely with our 250 Land colleagues across the UK and Ireland delivering land services on a variety of projects across the energy, water, road, rail and active-travel sectors.

  • We actively support people in achieving professional accreditations and have Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), Chartered Geographers (CGeog), Chartered Town Planners (RTPI), Chartered Project Professionals (ChPP) who can support your career progression.

  • Whilst based in our Scotland offices, WSP are flexible with the role and home working can be accommodated in balance with office work in a hybrid role.

  • Ideally a minimum of 10 years’ experience of working within the energy and/or transport infrastructure development sectors, and able to demonstrate significant experience of providing leadership within multi-disciplinary teams in Client, Project and Business delivery.

  • Proven track record in the management and delivery of land-related services, including directing teams delivering those services.

  • Demonstrable experience of reducing land risk for clients and advising them on land related matters throughout all stages of a project lifecycles.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with strong influencing and negotiating skills.

  • Understanding of relevant legislation and statutory processes, with a particular focus in Scotland.

  • Experience of negotiating commercial terms would be beneficial but not essential.

  • Knowledge of the rural environment, Estate management and/or farming practices would be advantageous.

  • Chartered membership in a relevant professional body would be advantageous.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams including delivery partners.

  • Strong adherence to quality assurance and data management protocols.

  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
