Chart Industries Technical Sales Engineer in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Exciting Opportunity for a Technical Sales Engineer.

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will deliver the growth plans by achieving budgets targets through existing markets success whilst rapidly developing new market and application opportunities. You will develop winning technical and commercial proposals by utilising best in class approaches in terms of technical/service/cost innovation and customer focus. Develop Regional Sales Teams to increase screw product capability across wider Howden organisation. Also, you will work in close collaboration with the Product Sales team to support customer requirements, develop winning bid strategies and create alignment with applications/markets.

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week. We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Preparation in a timely manner of accurate and definitive Technical & Commercial Proposals which give Howden the best chance of winning

  • Take leading role in driving down costs by developing innovative engineering, supply chain and service solutions

  • Co-ordinate the Proposals process across multiple disciplines, and manage responses to Client.

  • Act as a single point of contact on technical issues and manage client relationship.

  • Identify all company, client, national and international codes and standards applicable to a specific project, ensuring their utilisation to meet project requirements and Scope of Supply.

  • Review, with multiple disciplines, enquiry documents and obtain clarifications where required.

  • Review and comment on client specifications relating to multiple engineering disciplines and various types of equipment, and understand when review by Subject Matter Expert (SME) is required.

  • Performance verification of critical equipment required, and interpretation of results into practical and reasonable mechanical details to ensure functional and cost effective solutions.

  • Develop basic design and engineering requirements, piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), heat and material balance, and system design parameters, of process and utility equipment.

  • Specify to Purchase Order level, and procure quotations for technically compliant, cost effective equipment via diverse, external supply chain.

  • Evaluate quotations from sub-suppliers in order to provide cost effective solutions and comprehensive proposals.

  • Attend Technical Clarification Meetings with Clients and sub-suppliers.

  • Lead project handover meetings post contract award ensuring all relevant project data required for successful project execution is conveyed to all necessary disciplines.

  • Participate in Lessons Learned processes in context of both overall project and individual items including the use of RCCM techniques (Root Cause-Counter Measure).

  • Ensure company and departmental processes and procedures are adhered to in generation of Proposals to produce highest quality of bid.

  • Maintain Proposal documentation in line with company procedures and policy to ensure compliance with QA standards.

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in compliance with company policy to ensure safe working environment.

What Do You Need To Bring?

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in an Engineering discipline (e.g. Process / Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical & Instrumentation)

  • Ability to interpret the results of the design phase in order to specify a range of equipment whilst taking into consideration company specifications, client specifications, and international codes/standards

  • Experience in obtaining compliant quotations for medium to high specification equipment from a diverse supply chain

  • Ability to pro-actively solve problems and to think laterally, whilst working under pressure

  • Excellent communication, negotiating, influencing and inter-personal skills.

  • Knowledge of and commitment to customer service, financial control, and engineering quality.

  • Good command of English language both written and oral.

Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Understanding of Oil & Gas Sector, Process/Chemical Engineering, Piping and Pressure Vessel Codes, and Rotating Equipment including working knowledge of ASME/ANSI/PED/API standards.

  • Knowledge and experience of Process design techniques and software (Aspen Hysys preferred)

  • Understanding of the requirements of multiple disciplines, and how these influence packaged systems, particularly: Piping, Control Systems, Safety, Mechanical, and Operations.

  • Design experience in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, or Refrigeration industries
