We are seeking an experienced Senior Paralegal to join the DCP legal and support DCP’s video game and digital experiences business. In addition to video games and digital experiences, this role will support licensed and vertical merchandise, publishing, and related marketing and promotional initiatives. The primary responsibility of this Senior Paralegal will be legal clearances, including review of video game and digital experience content, and marketing and promotional initiatives. This Senior Paralegal role will also have the opportunity to provide transactional support to the DCP business.

We are looking for a thoughtful, driven, and collaborative person who can partner with the DCP legal team and the business teams to help them achieve their objectives while recognizing and mitigating associated risks. This role will be based in Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus in Glendale, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Legal clearances, including legal review of content for video games and other interactive products, merchandise, and publishing, and review of associated marketing material.

  • Research, analyze, and summarize video game development and license agreements.

  • Work closely with attorneys, other paralegals, and clients within DCP.

  • Opportunities to draft a variety of agreements, including video game, merchandise, and publishing license agreements and amendments, services agreements, promotional agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of paralegal experience or related legal experience.

  • Ability to handle legal clearances, such as legal clearance for video games, digital media, film, television, merchandising, or publishing.

  • Understanding of clearance-related legal issues, such as intellectual property rights (e.g., copyright, trademark, and right of publicity) and contractual rights and restrictions (e.g., license grants and approvals).

  • Excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, and judgment.

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to professionalism and integrity.

  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to partner with cast members at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for video games or experience in the video games space

  • Familiarity and understanding of privacy laws, such as COPPA.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or qualifications to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes.

The hiring range for this position in California is $84,500.00 to $113,300.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
