The Impact You Can Make * The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of laboratory duties within the assigned department, in order to provide appropriate service levels to both internal and external customers. Education/Accredited Programs * High School Diploma/GED. * Phlebotomy experience preferred * Experience in a Healthcare/Customer Service Environment or similar setting preferred Skills/Abilities: * * Medical Terminology preferred * Proficient in keyboarding * Ability to use a computer and required applications * Ability to read, analyze, interpret business documents, policies and procedures. * Ability to effectively communicate both directly and via phone/email sensitive information and respond to questions from patients, customers, provider, coworkers, and vendors * Ability to recognize and solve basic problems regarding area of responsibility and to refer involved issues to the department supervisor * Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers * Ability to work under stressful situations and able withstand the sight of blood * Ability to prioritize tasks * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in simple written, oral, or diagram form * Ability to read and comprehend departmental SOPS and safety manuals. * Ability to utilize basic ordering and inquiry functions within the Laboratory Information System. * Communities We Serve Located in the foothills of the beautiful Adirondack mountains, Glens Falls is conveniently located a short drive away from the capital region and Lake George. Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $17.25 to $22.50 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
