General Description:

Responsible for management and oversight of the cybersecurity contract team and the operations and maintenance of the infrastructure, operations, risk management, certification and accreditation, continuous diagnostics and mitigation, and policy planning, development, and implementation aspects in support of the Department of Energy, Office of Science.

Job Responsibilities

The cybersecurity contractor lead shall provide Cybersecurity implementation support services for planning and managing IT cybersecurity policy and its implementation; security oversight and compliance; and critical mission infrastructure protection. shall perform these services by providing the following support under Cybersecurity:

  • Cybersecurity Policy Planning, Development, and Implementation.

  • Develop and update policy and procedures documentation to support cyber practices.

  • Provide support to cyber related data calls.

  • Maintain and support Cybersecurity Performance Management to include but not limited to daily, weekly and monthly reporting.

  • Maintain and operate a Cybersecurity Operations program.

  • Addressing incoming tickets, tasks

  • Tool administration, configuration and maintenance of cyber tools

  • Perform scanning and reporting for end points and assets within the environment.

  • Support Vulnerability Management

  • Maintain and operate a Cybersecurity Risk Management program to include but not limited to performing Risk Assessments

  • Maintain and operate an IT Certification and Accreditation process to include but not limited to:

  • Perform cyber related ATO activities.

  • Support POA&M mitigation activities.

  • Provide support to Cyber related audits.

  • Maintain operate and support the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program to include but not limited to providing incident response to include processing and analysis of alerts and indicators of compromise.

  • Lead the Cyber Operations contractor team to plan out tasks for team, support day-to-day cyber operations activities, and work to improve the team’s processes and procedure to improve efficiency and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; or Associates degree plus additional two years' experience

  • 7+ years of relevant cybersecurity work experience

  • 3+ years’ experience with working with the Federal Government in a cybersecurity role to include but not limited to NIST SP 800-100, executive orders, and agency directives.

  • Cyber Operations Experience with BigFix, Splunk, Tenable, Forescout, Azure Sentinel, Azure Defender for Cloud, Azure Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft InTune

Other Job Specific Skills

  • Experience and understanding of Cyber Federal policies guidance and frameworks to include NIST 9.

  • Attention to detail, and a commitment to quality work.

  • Ability to elicit, analyze, document, and validate the system requirements that support the required system changes to meet the business need.

  • Must have the ability to work under aggressive deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize as necessary.

  • Excellent analytical, comprehension, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong skills in IT fundamentals including, but not limited to: IT security tools, Microsoft security tools, server administration, networking, database support/administration, infrastructure support, and IT security design.

  • Proven ability to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve complicated technical issues.

  • Demonstrated capability to creatively solve complex requirements needs.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to plan out tasks for team and support day-to-day cyber operations activities.

  • Proven ability to lead a team.
