Job Description OVERVIEW The Meals and Baking Solutions (MBS) North America Foodservice (NAF) Packaging R&D Technologist will support multiple businesses, brands, channels, and formats across numerous brands like Annie's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Betty Crocker, and Progresso. As a Packaging Technologist, you are joining a team that is leading commercialization, innovation, cost savings, and prototype development exploration to drive growth for Meals and Baking products across North America Retail (NAR) and NAF. We are looking for a strong team player, who is technically adept, savvy with computer systems and data, and would enjoy a fast-paced support position. This role is a great opportunity to gain breadth and depth related to a wide range of packaging materials, packaging processes, and Innovation, Technology and Quality ITQ computer and work systems. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES General project support (at the direction of others), with increasing opportunities for independent project leadership over time. Build "go-to" technical expertise in the commercialization process, including systems expertise across Eclips, GPLM, TOPS, etc. Support execution against Line Extensions or broader material changes impacting many products. Be a lead contact for RDSS. Design, coordinate, and execute samples and testing with Medallion/TAPPI and help make clear recommendations to drive growth via packaging. Lead prototyping, design, and execution with the Packaging Design Center. Build and leverage internal and external network (i.e. manufacturing facilities, external supply chain locations, suppliers, and cross functional partners) to support and execute work. Work in labs, pilot plant, and travel as needed for onsite testing and startup support of innovation, renovation, and cost savingsprojects as needed. Build technical skills in packaging materials and processes. Utilize go/MSP for connected developer tools such as shipping, managing sales sample production at our James Ford Bell (JFB) Pilot plant, and procure/manage materials for testing and trials. Support consumer learning support opportunities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma Minimum Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.) Aptitude to learn new computer systems and savvy with data and numbers. Strong technical and problem-solving skills. Comfortable in lab, pilot plant or manufacturing environments. Organizational & project management skills. Willingness and ability to learn new skills. Ability to work independently and with a team. Basic understanding of food safety and human safety. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Tech SchoolDegree 1+ years of experience with Packaging materials and testing An understanding of General Mills systems and business processes Passion for problem solving, CPG industry, and consumer trends (both food and packaging) Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment; desire to learn new concepts quickly and apply in productive ways. Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to a team environment, multi-tasking across stakeholders and a broad project portfolio. Strong self-starter and holds a high regard for quality of work; ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $49400.00 - $68100.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
