The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Superintendent in maintaining golf grounds; supervising and motivating a team of golf course specialists and technicians. The ideal Candidate must be able to:

• Associate/Technical Degree related to field is required

• 5+ years’ golf course experience

• Supervisory experience is required

• Performs maintenance on greens such as spreading of topdressing materials, aerate and spike greens, verti-cut tees, greens, fairways and other turf areas.

• Knowledge of irrigation controls and pumping systems

• Precision mow greens, tees, collars, aprons, fairways, approaches to greens, and rough areas.

• Assist in production work, such as construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and sands tees, greens and fairways. Plant native vegetation and prune trees, and weed beds.

• Safely operate mechanical equipment as needed to include sod cutter, spray rig, fertilizer spreaders and other light or heavy equipment

• Safely operate tractors and attachments, aerifiers for greens, tees, and fairways, topdressing equipment on selected turf grasses.

• Perform precision applications of fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides

• Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed

• Understanding of the game of golf

• Knowledge of governmental regulations and safety standards (OSHA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA)

• Knowledge of overall club operations

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – in English
