Corewell Health Nurse Technician Discharge Lounge in Grand Rapids, Michigan

About the unit

The Discharge Lounge is a newly renovated space for patients to go prior to leaving the hospital. Our team will collaborate with the nursing teams to determine appropriate patients, transport them down to the Lounge after their discharge instructions are completed, help with any needs while in the Lounge and then bring the patient out to their transportation. The Discharge Lounge focuses mostly on adult patients but occasionally does receive pediatric patients as well.

Scope of work

Nurse Tech responsibilities include keeping a list of patients in EPIC that is monitored to determine appropriate patients. Collaborates with the bedside RN team to determine if patient needs their assistance. Assist patients with gathering belongings prior to discharge and preparing for discharge. This can include: taking out IV's, assisting with dressing or going to the bathroom, getting snacks or waters, and answering questions the patient may have. Technicians will also transport patients out of the hospital and to their method of transportation.

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
