Weyerhaeuser Building Grounds Support in Grayling, Michigan

Weyerhaeuser in Grayling is seeking a Building Grounds Support Person

Key Functions:

  • Duties include shoveling, weed eating, plowing, bag house changeovers and general up-keep.
  • Providing fire watch and confined space duties as needed.
  • Working closely with Maintenance as needed on issues that arise or areas of concern.
  • Maintain the buildings and grounds of the facility including: landscaping, planting, pruning, fertilizing, mowing, leaf raking, sign maintenance, furniture and computer moving and set up, filter replacements, fire hose care, minor janitorial clean-up/clean around work areas, electrical projects.

Current Schedule for this, temporary role, tentatively planned: Monday-Friday 6:00AM-2:30PM, Mid May -- Mid August

Qualifications:

  • Must be minimum 18 years of age.
  • Ability to operate grounds equipment.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, work from heights, and in confined/restricted areas.
  • Able to bend, twist, stoop, push and pull and able to lift, on occasion, up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have earned a High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of general labor experience is preferred.

Specific Skills:

  • Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work closely with supervisors, and all others in the department; be a team player/leader; good verbal and written communication skills; and demonstrate positive attitude.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
  • Must have good performance, safety and attendance records.
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Must have ability to identify, communicate potential problems, and work to solve them.
  • Proven ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to work overtime, odd hours, weekends, holidays and other shifts as required.
  • Must be able and willing to work within safe work practices.
  • Able and willing to read and comprehend technical and non-technical information.
  • Able to work in a cooperative team structured work system and meet changing requirements and needs.
  • Able and willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Able to meet attendance requirements.
  • Able to perform other duties as assigned or required.
