City Of Greeley Class Instructor - Adaptive And Inclusive Recreation in Greeley, Colorado

Hiring Range: $16.69 - $18.78 Hourly

Job Summary: The City of Greeley Recreation is looking for Adaptive and Inclusive Class Instructors to join our growing team. We are looking for instructors who can teach and lead in a variety of formats including youth and adult sports, swim lessons and other aquatic programs, and social programs. Instructors are responsible for leading safe, effective, and motivating programs for community members with varying ability levels.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills: Ability to design an effective class based on the format and participant needs. Ability to provide program modifications for a wide variety of abilities. Ability to work effectively with participants of all abilities and understand techniques for inclusion facilitation and positive behavior support Ability to uniquely motivate and build rapport with class participants to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Customer service experience. Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. (must obtain within 60 days of hire) Experience teaching swim lessons desired Experience working with individuals with disabilities desired

Essential Functions: Responsible for design and delivery of group programs on the weekly schedule. Keep accurate record of class attendance. Willingness to cross-train in other program areas. Serve as a role model to staff and participants as it relates to personal fitness, etiquette and safety. Provide a friendly, inclusive, service-oriented environment for staff and participants. Provide positive relations and policy education to participants. Maintain familiarity of Greeley Recreation functions including risk management procedures, membership information, basic operational practices, and understanding of programs and services. Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate emergency procedures.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Frequent interruptions and heavy public contact. Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors and in adverse weather or extremely hot conditions, where one may be exposed to loud noises, dust, fumes, and chemicals. Workdays may extend from early morning to late evening, as well as weekends and holidays, as needed. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Physical effort required including, but not limited to, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking.
