North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Assistant/Associate Professor - Criminal Justice in Greensboro, North Carolina

The Department of Criminal Justice at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T) is inviting applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor position to begin Fall 2024.

The candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the areas of criminal justice (e.g., including criminology, statistics, research methods, policing, crime scene investigation, computer forensics, race and ethnic relations, cybercrime, cybersecurity) assigned as needed by the Department Chair. Other responsibilities include teaching, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and activities required for tenure. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment, and service to the Department, College, and University as needed/required.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences ( CAHSS ) enrolls more than 1,950 students and has more than 160 faculty members. CAHSS houses the Departments of Criminal Justice, English, History and Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts. The Department of Criminal Justice ( CRJS ) offers the Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, on campus and online, with undergraduate enrollment exceeding 500 baccalaureate students. CRJS also has been approved to offer Master’s and Ph.D. degree programs with specializations in Investigative Science, Digital Forensics, Research Methods, and Social Justice.

Requirements:

Academic qualifications of the position require a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Criminal Justice or a closely related discipline, with at least 18 doctoral-level hours in Criminal justice or a related discipline.

Preferred:

In addition to the stated minimum degree/qualifications, the candidate’s demonstration of an established record of strong teaching in undergraduate and graduate level courses, professional/peer-reviewed academic journal publications, and the ability to present research at professional/academic conferences consistent with eligibility for appointment/tenure at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor is preferred. Additionally, a commitment to mentoring students and collaborating with colleagues to enhance and advance the Department’s research and external funding efforts, as well as expertise and/or interest in one or more of the following specializations: digital/computer forensics, social justice, cybersecurity, investigative science/forensics ( CSI ), research methodology, associated research, and/or grant-writing is favorable.
