Position Overview:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Oil and Gas Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards within the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Transactions:

• Record and maintain accurate financial transactions related to oil and gas operations, including revenue, expenses, royalties, and joint interest billing.

• Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Reconcile bank statements, accounts, and general ledger entries.

• Financial Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and industry standards.

• Generate financial reports for internal stakeholders, management, and regulatory authorities.

• Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making processes.

• Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including state and federal regulations governing the oil and gas industry.

• Prepare and file tax returns, including severance taxes, sales and use taxes, and other applicable taxes.

• Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies.

• Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for oil and gas operations.

• Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted and forecasted figures.

• Identify variances and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

• Internal Controls:

• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.

• Participate in the development and improvement of accounting policies and procedures.

• Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess compliance with internal control procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.

• Proven experience (X years) in accounting roles within the oil and gas industry.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.

• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
