Jacobs is seeking a Senior Mechanic to join our team at our wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) facility located in Gresham, OR.

Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on water/wastewater treatment plants and related facilities equipment on an assigned shift. Preforms general maintenance and repair tasks on building, structures, and grounds; analyzes equipment failures and determine cause and to prevent recurrences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • May preform duties of the Maintenance Supervisor in their absence, if assigned by the Maintenance supervisor, Operations & Maintenance Supervisor, or project manager, including proving work assignments, scheduling shifts, preparing work schedule and other duties assigned

  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and equipment

  • Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunctions; replaces packing in pumps or valves; replaces bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tunes engines, sets valve clearance, cleans, and adjusts regulators

  • Replace bearings, packing, seals, shafts, sleeves, seats, or other component found in the water treatment plant equipment

  • Uses special tools such as bearing pullers, torch, welding machines, hoists, or other equipment used in the repair of water treatment plant equipment

  • Reads, interprets, and worked from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and mechanical illustration

  • Preforms skilled mechanical report work on water treatment plant equipment and related equipment

  • Participates in the training of Mechanics

  • Works safely to adhere to established safety procedures

  • Ability to carry and respond to pages as request by the manger

  • Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner.

  • Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences

  • Installs and sets up new equipment

  • Cleans out pipes and performs other plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required

  • Uses gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld

  • Assists in keeping maintenance records

  • Communicates effectively at all levels regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures

  • Follows written and oral instructions

  • Performs other duties as required

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Five (5) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and experience in maintenance of pumps, motors, and large mechanical installation.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Uses gas and /or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to water/wastewater treatment plant operations and procedures.

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
