Job Summary

Leads the design, implementation, maintenance, and execution of people and organizational development initiatives and practices. This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of all elements of a technical training program. This will include content creation, effective delivery mechanisms, classroom training, development and execution of a robust On the Job training program, etc. Finally, this role will be accountable for the manufacturing engineering ownership of work instructions, standard work, and issue management.

What you will do:

• Maintaining processes for assessing and reviewing changing business needs for professional skills, leadership, and organizational development programs.

• Designing programs for learning and development initiatives which support business goals.

• Providing consulting services on design and development of solutions for professional skills gaps, leadership, and organizational development problems and issues.

• Implementing programs with efficient use of resources, including working with vendors and technology solutions, to achieve learning goals aligned to business objectives.

• Evaluating existing curriculum or learning solutions and recommending appropriate approaches for improving the quality, cost, and value of development programs.

• Accountability for process documentation and ISO compliance, issue capture and governance, process change management, and various other Manufacturing Engineering roles.

Degree or equivalent experience desired

Level Working Knowledge:

• Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.

• Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.

• Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.

• Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.

• Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

Training and Development

Instructional Design: Knowledge of relevant instructional design concepts and processes; ability to design instructional content to meet the learning needs of a target population.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Participates in instructional design walk-through and content delivery tryouts.

• Selects delivery medium and technologies.

• Assesses the level and depth of subject matter against the knowledge and experience level of learners.

• Participates in identifying learning needs of a given target population.

• Defines instructional goals, performance objectives, and topics to be included.

Training Delivery: Knowledge of methods and tools of training delivery; Ability to deliver learning solutions for desired training outcomes

Level Working Knowledge:

• Implements adjustments to training in light of audience feedback.

• Selects suitable delivery methods for different training sessions.

• Participates in delivery of training via various methods for existing lesson plans.

• Defines key learning objectives for training sessions.

• Documents and reports problems that arise during training sessions.

Training Needs Analysis : Knowledge of tools, techniques and methods of training needs analyses; ability to identify what people need to learn for successful individual and organizational performance.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Provides feedback for the improvement of training needs collection methods.

• Participates in training suitability analysis for different levels in the organization.

• Selects appropriate tools and techniques to evaluate the gap between existing and expected performance.

• Defines key learning objectives for training sessions.

• Assesses training needs for employees within the organization.

Training Solution Development: Knowledge of training solution development procedures, tools and techniques; ability to utilize the knowledge for developing a solution to stated training needs.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Monitors training solution development in all phases of the training life cycle.

• Participates in developing a training solution for a documented need.

• Selects appropriate tools and techniques to develop training solutions.

• Analyzes successful examples of training solutions development.

• Assists in evaluating training development costs.

Training Technologies: Knowledge of training tools and techniques; ability to utilize software, technologies and applications for the creation and development of training programs and processes.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Assists in the installation, configuration and support of training software.

• Selects software and hardware infrastructure to develop training processes.

• Uses specific technologies to develop and deliver training programs.

• Resolves training software and hardware connectivity and integration problems.

• Maintains e-learning systems to ensure the operation of online training programs.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a manufacturing engineering/operations-related discipline) or equivalent applicable experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or operations

  • Experience with NPI issue management and governance

  • Ability to communicate and adapt your communication style to a variable audience

Top candidates will also have:

  • Previous training experience or public speaking skills

  • NPI process experience

  • Strong leadership and managerial skills

  • Demonstrated ability to establish processes and governance where standard work does not exist

Additional Information

  • The location for this position is Griffin, GA

  • Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position

  • This position may require 10% travel

Summary Pay Range:

$79,800.00 - $119,760.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
