ManpowerGroup PharmaSci Project Manager in Groton, New Jersey

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Project Manager provides project management, planning, and resource forecasting leadership to Pharmaceutical Science Small Molecule project teams.

This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in pharmaceutical / technical development at the intersection of business and science. Through your work as a Project Manager, you will directly contribute to the successful delivery of this portfolio and independently work across business categories and development phases (pre-clinical, Phase 1 to 3 clinical, and through commercialization).

How You Will Achieve It

In this role, you will be responsible for the generation, management, and maintenance of high-quality Pharmaceutical Sciences Project Plans to enable the operational/strategic delivery of new medicines to patients. You will leverage your advanced analytical skills and business acumen to capture and present non-scientific data in a format that enables, and supports decisions related to project strategies and budgets. In this role, you will drive decision making and outcomes at the interfaces of pharmaceutical / CMC technical development, project management, and budgeting.

Integrated Planning

  • As a member of the PharmSci Project Team, the Project Manager partners with team members (e.g., Pharmaceutical Sciences Team Leads (PSTLs) / Co-Development Leads’ Clinical / Candidate Planners; PharmSci. PGS and Supply Chain team members) to deliver program outcomes within the forecasted timeline and budget.

  • Updates timing of activities and costs within PharmSci Project Plan for consistency with strategy changes, technical challenges, and project risks.

  • Proactively identifies gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement to the project plan and forecast.

  • Leads cross-functional resource discussions/meetings with the Small Molecule PharmSci Science & Technology lines (e.g., Drug Product Design, Analytical R&D, Chemical R&D) to ensure accurate indirect (FTE) and direct $ forecasts.

  • Develops and interprets scenarios under tight timelines and with limited and often ambiguous input to support project valuations, acceleration proposals, alternative development strategies, and/or business development deals related to current or proposed projects.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Conducts analytics and reporting to support the regular reviews of project level forecasts with PSTLs, PharmSci Line Resource Estimators, and Finance to ensure high-data quality and completeness of forecast data for assigned projects.

  • Utilizes data analytics and reporting skills to extract and integrate data from various systems (e.g., RAPID data ecosystem, PharmSci portfolio systems, Finance and Procurement systems) to support project and portfolio level analyses.

  • Translate data into Gantt charts and financial reports using OnePager and Microsoft Excel.

  • Prepare reports for Finance and PharmSci Team Lead to support quarterly Finance Quarterly budget / close cycles.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires B.S. or M.S. degree in relevant scientific or engineering discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Bio, Pharmacy, etc.)

  • Also seeking candidates with PhD degree in scientific or engineering discipline with 3-5 years of work experience, strong interest in project management and demonstrated interest / aptitude for non-lab based roles.

  • Direct work experience in Pharmaceutical / CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls) development within a large pharmaceutical company, small biotech, or CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organization).

  • Strong understanding of key disciplines involved in Pharmaceutical development, including API development, drug product development, analytical development, manufacturing, clinical supply chain, and regulatory activities.

  • Experience working within an enterprise project management tool/system.

  • Ability to establish and develop strong working relationships within a matrix organization and team-based environment.

  • Advanced data analytics and reporting skills with expertise in Microsoft Excel, Business Objects, and OnePager; familiar with use and application of data visualization tools and software (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, etc.)

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, in work products and associated communications.

  • Able to work under tight timelines, multi-task, and prioritize one's work to meet key deadlines.

  • Ability to convert large and complex datasets into charts, graphs, and PowerPoint slides, with explanation / insights clearly articulated.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal Project Management Certification (PMP or otherwise).

  • High degree of competence and expertise in use of enterprise project management software, as demonstrated by 3-5 years of cross functional planning experience with Planisware (or equivalent system).
