The Appointment Coordinator is responsible for the management and scheduling of all appointments by scheduling various medical services for patients and performing clerical work associated with such services.

Responsibilities

  • Avoids conflict when scheduling patients.

  • Provides input to assure that booking guides, physicians' times, and other data elements are accurate.

  • Assures accuracy of data input by checking and correcting data validity and statistical reports.

  • Assures effective utilization of rooms and times.

  • Reports errors and omissions to appropriate personnel for correction/clarification.

  • Consults with Medical Records to assure accuracy of statistics/demographic data.

  • Prepares and delivers daily reports to appropriate interdepartmental personnel.

  • Answers telephones and utilizes computer systems to schedule and manage appointments.

  • Checks patient paperwork for completeness of required information.

  • May be responsible for the processing of all surgery related bills, as well as, all perioperative.This includes assuring that all charges are entered and verified before processing charges; assuring the accuracy of charges and patient information and reporting of accuracy of charges and patient information (e.g. billing number).

  • Assures that special equipment, supplies, and rooms are available.

  • Assures availability of supplies and initiates requests for special supplies for individual procedures.

  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

  • Ability to handle basic issues and problems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Associate's degree.

  • Prior experience in a related role.
