Hackensack Meridian Health Senior MRI Technologist - Full Time in Hackensack, New Jersey

The Sr MRI Technologist, under the direction of the Chief MRI Technologist, coordinates technical workings of the department, supervises technologists, and coordinates workflow.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Senior MRI Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  1. Supervises technical aspects of the MRI department.

  2. Prepare and reviews schedule to determine workload for the day.

  3. Assigns technologists to appropriate rooms.

  4. Oversees the completion of work on a daily basis.

  5. Assists staff technologists as needed.

  6. Assigns work to appropriate rooms.

  7. Performs service calls to contractors for all equipment.

  8. Provides on call coverage on weekends, and takes supervisory call when the Chief Technologist is off.

  9. Works as a staff technologist as need according to department schedule.

  10. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age ,culture ,language hearing and /or visually impaired , ect.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and /or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age ,educational ,literacy ,ect.).

  11. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center`s Organizational & Managerial Competencies.

  12. Reviews patient`s chart and /or physician order to determine optimal imaging parameters for suspected pathology.

  13. Selects proper imaging coil for study.

  14. Performs imaging studies using proper scanning techniques and protocols.

  15. Works with physicians to optimize MRI sequences to produce the highest quality MRI image.

  16. Administers contrast media based on patient`s height and weight when ordered.

  17. Screens patients and family members for MRI safety and contra-indications.

  18. Verifies pregnancy status when appropriate.

  19. Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.

  20. Documents diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate record.

  21. Performs post-processing techniques to optimize imaging or study.

  22. Administers emergency care including performing CPR.

  23. Administers MRI safety, screens patients for contraindications i.e foreign bodies, medical indications.

  24. Draws up sterile contrast media and other solutions without contaminating the syringe and/or needle etc.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

  2. Completion of a formal school of radiologic technology.

  3. 3 years as a staff technologist.

  4. Meets requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  1. MRI Certification.

  2. Diagnostic Radiography License.
