Essential Functions:

• Makes investigations of cases including protective services, foster care placement, adoption, abuse and neglect and related areas. Completes risk assessment when appropriate.  Completes safety plans and safety assessments when applicable.
• Counsels emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and parents to determine the emotional bases of problems.
• Develops casework plans including permanent planning for children.
• Participates as team member in defining, establishing and implementing individual treatment goals and plans or procedures for the placement and protection of children.
• Writes and completes reports, correspondence, case places, case histories, case summaries, contracts and other documents; maintains necessary records and files; prepares court summaries and completes court reviews.
• Performs crisis intervention counseling.
• Attends workshops and training sessions. May be required to serve On-Call duty in Agency's 24-hour emergency and crisis services to families and/or children in need.  Perform duties under direction of On-Call supervisor.

• Performs other duties as assigned by agency supervision or administration.

   

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in social work, sociology, criminology or other closely related field of study and at least 1 ½ years of paid work experience at the level of Social Services Worker 3. Prefer enrollment or completion of Master's Degree in the subject areas outlined above.
• Honesty, highest personal integrity, flexibility and demonstrated attention to detail.
• Ability to establish inclusive and effective working relationships with clients, staff, administrators, and other professionals.
