Your responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same. Oversees and provides general direction for up to 20 full-time and temporary employees, and ensures they are all properly trained. Coordinates manpower to ensure needs are met in the event of an employee absence (i.e. vacation). Interprets specifications and job orders to Material Handlers, and assigns duties. Promotes and supports a teamwork approach to achieving goals, ensuring open and effective communication. Leads a culture of safety across the warehouse, ensuring that steps are proactively taken to ensure compliance with Company Safety requirements and investigate accidents when needed. Ensures the development for Material Handlers through cross-training and monitoring job performance. Embraces a continuous improvement approach through effective leadership, with high levels of integrity and performance for his/herself and others. Performs as a superior role model for all associates (i.e. attendance). Ensures implementation of 6S throughout area of responsibility. Works with dock personnel to resolve receiving, shipping, and storage concerns. Ensures inventory accuracy through real-time receiving, auditing, and tracking all inbound non-compliance. Maintains an organized and well documented warehouse area. Assists in maintaining the current Warehouse Management System; and Warehouse Management module in SAP. Investigates problems, finds root causes, develops solutions and reports to Warehouse Supervisor as soon as possible. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Arranges for the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment as needed. Recommends measures to improve warehouse methods, equipment performance, and Quality; and works with Warehouse Supervisor to identify and implement continuous improvement activities. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Your profile Qualifications & Experience: Demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams in situations associated with high volumes of work and/or customer demands. This would include providing direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members. Demonstrated understanding of inventory management strategies, as well as inventory transactions and the physical movement of inventory. Demonstrated knowledge of transportation management, inventory management, and Customer communication skills. Experience working in a warehouse environment safely operating facility material handling equipment (e.g. forklift, pallet jacks, automated storage & retrieval systems, carousel) and picking and packing equipment (e.g. scanner, scale, tape machine).
