Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Construction Manager to perform Construction Management Services for the Water Business Line for a large wastewater treatment construction project located in downtown Toronto. The position is full-time at the construction project site during normal construction hours. The selected candidate will interact daily with the client and the contractor working with a team of office support personnel, contract administrators, inspectors, and construction management support team. The Construction Manager will report directly to the Project Manager and will manage a construction management support team at site. This position can be based out of one of our Greater Toronto and surrounding Area offices - Markham, Mississauga, or Hamilton, ON.

The responsibilities of the Construction Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Construction Project Management (e.g., project progress reports, project team coordination for all construction submittals, client and contractor coordination, timely delivery of responses to all construction submittals, RFI’s, RFC’s, CO’s, etc.)

  • QA/QC reviews and compliance

  • Function as AECOM’s Onsite Safety Officer.

  • Work with Project Manager, Design Team, Client and Construction Contractor in expediting solutions to technical field problems

  • Review all construction submittals

  • Coordinate directly with Lead Design Engineer and Design Team discipline leads on all design changes and construction submittals

  • Coordination with other contracts at the same site

  • Participate in the negotiation of change orders specific to design changes

  • Participate in the resolution of delay and other claims by the contractor

  • Participate in and document all construction meetings onsite (e.g., daily tailgate/safety meetings, weekly construction meetings, etc.).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or another related field + 8 years’ experience in the design and/or construction engineering fields working on water/wastewater treatment plant projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Contract administration experience

  • Driver's license

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 20 years of experience in construction management

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with ability to be professionally registered with PEO

  • Ability to work in teams, respond to changing demands, be decisive under pressure, and can remain calm when interfacing with internal and external personnel

  • Municipal construction management experience

  • Construction management experience in large municipal water or wastewater treatment facilities ($50M+)

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Have supervised two (2) completed construction projects in the field, including the following:

  • Supervised construction related to horizontal infrastructure (i.e. installation of piles, deep excavations, reinforced concrete, pipes and related appurtenances, dewatering, etc.)

  • Supervised construction related to vertical infrastructure (i.e., concrete structures, buildings, process equipment, HVAC and plumbing, electrical works, I&C works).

  • Process equipment commissioning experience

  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and regulations

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $125,000.00 - $160,000.00.
