The Department of Health is seeking a Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Specialist to join our team.

This position, in the Bureau of Epidemiology, Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Division, supports the organization's mission of protecting the public's health through its responsibility for providing consultative, scientific, and technical expertise to prevent and control healthcare-associated infections. This position will provide expert guidance and consultation to healthcare personnel developing and revising infection prevention and control plans and policies to prevent healthcare-associated infections and the transmission of communicable diseases across the continuum of health care.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Specialist, you will provide expert consultation to healthcare personnel in the development, implementation, and maintenance of infection prevention and control plans, policies, and procedures, and consults with multidisciplinary teams and facility infection prevention staff to develop prevention and control strategies and disease surveillance protocols. This position is technical, consultative, and analytical. It involves interaction with healthcare facility infection control personnel and other facility staff, including medical personnel as well as internal and external customers which may include healthcare providers, patients, residents, other Departmental and governmental units, and the public in general. Work is performed independently and is reviewed by an Epidemiologist Supervisor or higher-level administrator for program effectiveness.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, Reading, or Greensburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of professional infection prevention and control experience in a healthcare facility or in public health, and a bachelor's degree; or Three years of professional infection prevention and control experience in a healthcare facility or in public health, and a master's degree. Special Requirement: All positions require possession of an active Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certification as issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
