The Keystone Internship will be between 225-300 hours and last 10 weeks between May 13, 2024 and August 23, 2024.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK The Pennsylvania State Archives commits itself to preserving history, serving the community, and making historical materials accessible to the public. One of the ways the Pennsylvania State Archives achieves these goals is by digitizing items in its collections. This position will focus on processing projects related to these digitization efforts. The intern will have the ability to digitize a variety of items, including but not limited to photographs, documents, and audiovisual materials.

You will learn how to manage digitization projects, gain knowledge of archival naming conventions, become versed in digital file formats, obtain proficiency in using digitization equipment and software, and develop skills for quality control. These outcomes are important as the field of archival work continues to move in a digital direction. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to network with the dedicated staff of the Pennsylvania State Archives and receive valuable advice from them for this position and future endeavors.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Internship (temporary part-time) Work hours are flexible and will be finalized between selected interns and their supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: You must be currently enrolled, or will be enrolled in a college or university full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program by the start of the internship. You must be in good academic standing (2.5 GPA or higher). Additional Requirements: You must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire. You must currently be enrolled, or will be enrolled at a college or university undergraduate or graduate program for the Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 academic term by the start of the internship. You must be able to work in or commute to Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualification (not required): Possession of work, academic, or volunteer experience.
