The Department of Health (DOH) is seeking a Public Health Program Associate 2 to assist in the implementation and administration of the Office of Drug Surveillance and Misuse Prevention's overdose prevention, education, and outreach activities. This position supports the goal to improve the health of Pennsylvanians by promoting the appropriate use of controlled substances, such as opioids, and ensuring that they are always prescribed and dispensed safely and responsibly in the commonwealth.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Public Health Program Associate 2, you will administer the Office of Drug Surveillance and Misuse Prevention's Patient Advocacy Program. You will have the opportunity to coordinate healthcare resources for patients who abruptly lose their prescribing provider for reasons such as provider license suspensions and revocations, provider arrests, practice closures, or unwillingness to prescribe. In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate, and implement program policies and procedures to ensure the Patient Advocacy Program goals and objectives are met, as well as participate in revising guidelines, rules, regulations, procedures, and protocols governing the operation of the program.

Other core objectives of the position include identifying and collaborating with key stakeholders for Patient Advocacy Program implementation; communicating with key stakeholders regarding provider license suspensions and revocations, provider arrests, practice closures, or other matters appropriate to the Patient Advocacy Program; and coordinating with the Department of Health's Office of Communications to provide local media outlets with patient resources for the public when notified of any provider license suspensions or revocations, provider arrests, practice closures, or other matters appropriate to the Patient Advocacy Program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Current in-office schedule is two days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) but is subject to change. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Public Health Program Associate 1 (commonwealth title); or A bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in the development, analysis, or monitoring of programs, grants, or contracts in health, human services, social or behavioral services, health care services, or health insurance; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
