Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Transportation Planning Specialist 1 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4603215 THE POSITION Be part of the support system for domestic and international cargo in Pennsylvania as a Transportation Specialist 1 in the Bureau of RFPW. Work directly with the PA port program manager to assist in all aspects of waterborne and associated multimodal transportation including planning, programming, funding, and project management.  We are currently seeking a motivated, analytical candidate to join our team offering a great opportunity to grow professionally in the transportation field.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK The role involves assisting in organizing and scheduling port operations across the Commonwealth, conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing reports for port and rail projects funded by federal and state governments. Additionally, you will help in implementing performance metrics set by Port Managers to ensure consistency with DOT and port objectives. You will also support Port Managers and the bureau director by engaging in freight-related committees, working groups, and coalitions such as the North Atlantic Ports Association, Pennsylvania's Comprehensive Freight Movement Plan, and the Governors' and Premiers' Regional Maritime Entity.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Transportation Planning Specialist Trainee; or One year of professional transportation planning or transportation programming experience and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
