The Role

The Strategic Engagement Director, Sales develops and executes the sales strategy, account planning and development for large and complex opportunities while leading a sales team. This professional provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values while aligning with client business outcomes.

Location

Business alignment requires the professional in this role reside in one of the following states: NEW YORK CONNECTICUT, MARYLAND ,NEW JERSEY ,PENNSYLVANIA,VIRGINIA,-WASHINGTON DC,DELAWARE MAINE. The professional in this role may work from home when not in client or team meetings.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Separate from the daily engagement pursuit tasks to provide a quality control function that works across various functions to enhance the teams' abilities to close deals more quickly and with higher quality.

  • Serves as primary contact for senior executives to determine strategy and rank opportunities.

  • Pursuit Quality Assurance

  • Strengthen deal evaluation and match objectives with solutions.

  • Support wider team with specific pursuit plans.

  • Lead qualification process to ensure the right deals are selected for the program.

  • Ensure consistent approaches across deals in all areas of the pursuit, architecture, pricing, and service delivery.

  • Strategic Engagement Team Development

  • Increase individual skill development capabilities within existing and added resources.

  • Leadership consistently enforces and evolves the team process & assets being deployed.

  • Innovation

  • Expand Functional capabilities, engaging with other teams to drive initiatives, articulating common customer themes/gaps, and driving change.

  • Advocacy & Education

  • Engaging with account teams outside of individual pursuits to educate on consumption models and SET value/process.

  • Cross pollinates our core attributes of leadership, discipline, and structure to other areas within Lumen.

  • Engage Lumen resources and others interested in creating sale motion for large complex deals.

  • Primary sales interface to interlock with offering teams to create go to market motions.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Technology Business Solution Development Sales and Execution Expertise with Adaptative Networking, Edge Cloud and IT Agility, SASE, Security Consulting, NaaS, ExtaSwitch.

  • Sales and Professional Services leadership experience

  • Sales Operations experience.

  • Product Marketing and Go to Market strategy; competitive analysis, segmentation, customer analytics

  • Thorough understanding of business outcome-based solution selling; account management and sales processes.

  • Ten Plus years of experience leading teams that have sold complex solutions and services.

  • Exceptional strategic planning, account management and contract negotiations skills.

  • Experience in consultative sales techniques and account planning including account profiling, account positioning strategy, customer needs analysis, sales opportunity development, service improvement planning, and long-range account management strategies.

  • A record of accomplishment for consistently exceeding sales and revenue goals.

  • Proven ability to hire, manage and motivate successful, solution-oriented sales teams.

  • Experience as a strategic member of sales management team who contributes significantly to growth and development of the business.

  • High energy level and demonstrated drive to succeed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of relevant job experience with similar essential duties

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications. The Base Salary ranges listed below do not include other possible incentives with this role.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$123,450 - $205,740 in these states: ME

$129,940 - $216,570 in these states: PA

$136,440 - $227,400 in these states: NC NH RI

$142,940 - $238,230 in these states: CT DC DE MA MD NJ NY VA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
