How will you make an impact in this role?

Card & Merchant Accounting and Control (CMAC) team manages the accounting for $1.2 Tn of Card spend, Remittances and Merchant payments along with accounting for Incentives COE amounting to $2B. which includes accounting for Corporate Client Incentives, GNS Royalties, Merchant Rebates etc. and provide governance and oversight to unclaimed funds (Abandoned Property).

The specific role is part of Incentives COE team within CMAC.

Role/ Responsibilities

The Incentives COE team is responsible for accounting and governance of GNS Partner terms across American Express, working closely with internal stakeholders in Finance, Controllership, Business Development, Marketing and Operations. You will be a member of a fast-paced, dynamic team with a growth mind-set and a global outlook. The role requires an individual who has strong analytical skills and who can build strong working relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a part of GNS Partner incentives and operational team and ensure all applicable GNS pricing terms actioned in accordance with contract

  • Responsible for creating all manual pricing calculations, including complex Partner incentive terms

  • Identify and raise Risk Memos where appropriate and work with key stakeholders to drive closure in a timely manner

  • Support the Process Risk Self-Assessment testing

Minimum Qualifications

  • MBA/CA or equivalent with 3 years of experience or Graduate/B.Com with 6 years of experience with strong accounting skills

  • Knowledge of Operational Risk, SOX, Control & Compliance, Accounting, and Audit

  • Ability to think out of box and question the status quo

  • Have relationship skills necessary to partner with cross-functional teams like GNO, LFOs and Business Development across multiple time zones

  • Ability to work in a fast paced challenging environment supporting customer needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the GNS business

  • Customer-oriented with the ability to interact professionally with all levels within organization and with partners e.g. able to present financial information clearly both internally and externally

  • Proven project management skills with ability to meet deadlines, deliver results and manage multiple tasks without compromising on quality

  • Self starter, proactive and a team player who can drive results efficiently alone as well as in a team setting and one who can prioritize effectively
