BCAA Senior Advisor, Health and Safety in *Head Office, Canada

As Senior Advisor, Health & Safety (H&S) you are instrumental in leading the Health and Safety with a focus on injury prevention. Your hands-on approach in developing H&S programs and keen eye for detail to ensure standards are met will be integral to BCAA’s goal to become Certificate of Recognition (COR) certified and continue to be a leader in workplace H&S.

Who you are

  • Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams

What you bring

  • Minimum 3 year’s Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) experience, along with a OH&S diploma/degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Deep understanding of current corporate health & safety strategies and best practices

  • Skilled at conflict resolution and experience working with diverse teams with varying needs

  • A valid BC Driver’s License with a clean driver abstract and access to a vehicle

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Sharepoint

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Level 2 First Aid (or willing to obtain within 3 months)

  • CRSP Canadian Registered Safety Professional Degree

  • Work Safe BC (WSBC) Joint Health & Safety Committee Certificate

Once you are here

  • Lead the development and implementation of all H&S programs to ensure regulatory compliance and to meet the needs of BCAA

  • Inform, educate and promote safety awareness among team members and seek out training programs that foster wellness and a culture of safety

  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and interpret safety trends and make recommendations on wellness initiatives, risk management and other opportunities

  • Serve as a H&S subject matter expert, conducting research on legislation, internal data and other external sources

  • Lead investigations & audits, ensuring compliance and documentation

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of COR requirements to ensure successful audits, along with keeping ahead of injury and illness prevention

  • Oversee H&S committees, contractors, third-party vendors along with supporting WCB partnership and crisis management initiatives

The expected salary range for this position is $75,000  to $85,000  per annum and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
