BCAA is hiring a Regular Full-Time Senior Manager, Enterprise Technology !

This is a hybrid role based on our Burnaby, BC (British Columbia) Head Office. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our 4567 Canada Way office and/or are not looking to relocate _to BC will not be considered for this position. _

As the Senior Manager Enterprise Technology, you'll spearhead the management and evolution of HR and Finance applications, ensuring they align with organizational objectives. You'll oversee all aspects of application development and configuration, acting as a liaison between IT and business teams to deliver solutions that meet stakeholder needs. Your role involves budget and resource management, as well as negotiating key enterprise software license renewals. Success in this position relies on your ability to drive effective collaboration, tackle challenges proactively, and align technology strategies with business goals.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide clear direction to ensure efficient workflow within the team, facilitating the rapid delivery of work.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to shape the product vision and backlog, aligning technology initiatives with business objectives.

  • Maintain a customer and business centric focus, ensuring that all efforts are aimed at delivering value to our customers and BCAA at large.

  • Demonstrate a hands-on leadership style that emphasizes collaboration and continuous improvement, tailored to suit agile delivery methodologies.

  • Lead efforts to make work visible and consistently demonstrate value delivery to customers in a predictable, stable, and frequent manner.

  • Offer support and assistance to teams and Product Owners, helping to remove impediments that may hinder effectiveness.

  • Establish a robust production support framework to promote team ownership and responsiveness.

  • Shield teams from distractions and disruptions, ensuring focus remains on productive work.

  • Direct the development of solutions for both new and existing systems, addressing potential issues such as scalability, performance, and security.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify strategic opportunities and formulate long-term roadmaps with associated financial implications.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in solution design sessions and communicate the rationale behind business objectives and decisions to empower team members.

  • Assist in the development of business unit strategic plans, projects, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Identify operational issues and provide support to teams in addressing them, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

  • Cultivate a culture of quality, ensuring adherence to good coding practices and compliance with non-functional requirements.

  • Drive the application of automation and DevSecOps practices throughout the development, testing, and delivery processes.

  • Ensure alignment of new systems and changes with the organization's overall data and application architecture.

  • Collaborate with the Service Desk to ensure adequate support for system users and conduct detailed retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.

  • Maintain well-documented and supported systems, while also focusing on building high-performing and engaged teams through effective talent management practices.

  • Stay informed about industry developments and tools and technologies used by teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Monitor expenses against budgets, analyze variances, and take corrective action as needed to ensure financial accountability.

  • Manage vendor relationships, assess the quality of vendor work, and negotiate renewal terms and conditions to ensure optimal performance.

  • Partner closely with various line of business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure technology initiatives support business outcomes.

  • Provide strategic technical guidance to support the planning and implementation of solutions tailored to each line of business's needs.

What you bring:

  • Degree in computing science or information systems. Development / application management experience combined with education in other fields will be considered.

  • At least 5 years of technical experience plus 5 years supervising and managing staff.

  • Experience architecting application solutions, data modeling (logical and physical) familiarity, implementation of application solutions, implementation of COTS solutions (e.g. Workday), creating specifications, unit and system testing.

  • Project management/scrum master experience.

  • Experience leading development and solution teams.

  • Bonus skills!

  • MBA or graduate degree

  • Scrum Master/Agile Certifications

  • Proficient in Kanban methodology

  • Extensive experience in a large, diverse IT organization with a complex corporate structure, or across multiple disciplines within IT

  • Ability to apply statistical and research methods to address system issues and enhance products as needed

  • Familiarity with, or experience in implementing, Workday HR & Workday Financial Suite platforms is highly advantageous.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 per annum, and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 12.5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 20%.
