University of Miami Pharmacist-Per Diem in Hollywood, Florida

UMHC-SCCC Hollywood Pharmacy is currently seeking a per diem Pharmacist. The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. Also, an employee in this position transfers prescriptions, handles incoming physician calls, logs data into applicable databases, and performs drug utilization review.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policies and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.

  • Compounds and dispenses medications, as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.

  • Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages.

  • Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications.

  • Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate suitability.

  • Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.

  • Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions.

  • Maintains records, such as pharmacy and system files, patient profiles, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries for poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.

  • Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Pharm.D. degree

    Certification and Licensing:

  • Certification in relevant specialty or field

  • Requires current licensure in good standing in the State of Florida and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy

    Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
