RSDC Production Supervisor in Holt, Michigan

SUMMARY Supervises and coordinates activities of production associates by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Each supervisor will be responsible for departmental and plant goals for quality, availability, capacity, safety, uptime, cycle times, daily, and continual improvement initiatives. Regularly participate in group/team/departmental meetings to collect, analyze, and act on issues to improve company performance. It is the responsibility of each member of the team to keep each member informed about production activities and exchange appropriate information between shifts. Participates actively in furthering the RSDC culture concerning continuous improvement, Kaizen, 6-Sigma, Corrective Actions, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of associates; ensures their ability to safety operate equipment; counsels and disciplines as required in accordance with rules, procedures and the labor agreement. Develops action plans relative to increased performance, variation reduction, and safety improvements. Ensures process control for processes in charge of. That includes completion of assigned checks related to quality and safety. Ensures product meets specifications. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.

Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

Interprets and applies company policies to associates and enforces safety and housekeeping regulations.

Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals.

Maintains time, overtime and production records.

Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises hourly employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in business or technical area and two or more years supervisory experience, or equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
