Morgan Stanley Credit Analyst in Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Job Description:

Morgan Stanley Hong Kong is seeking a talented Credit Analyst to join our team. As a Credit Analyst, you will play a crucial role in assessing credit risk and providing valuable insights to support our investment decisions and client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit analysis with a focus on non-China markets , excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of financial markets. Ability to read and write in Mandarin is also essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Credit Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of corporate borrowers and counterparties, assessing their creditworthiness, financial health, and risk profile. Utilize financial statements, credit reports, industry research, and other relevant data sources to evaluate credit risk.
  2. Deal Due Diligence: Participate in due diligence processes for credit transactions, reviewing legal documentation, financial models, and other pertinent information to assess the potential risks and rewards of proposed deals.
  3. Deal Execution: In addition to due diligence, the candidate may get exposure and be part of the deal team to execute lending and financing transactions.
  4. Risk Management: Identify, quantify, and mitigate credit risks associated with various transactions, providing recommendations to senior management and stakeholders to ensure prudent risk-taking and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  5. Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor the credit quality of existing loan and investment portfolios, identifying early warning signs of deteriorating credit quality and taking proactive measures to address potential issues.
  6. Client Interaction: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including relationship managers, traders, and investment bankers, to provide credit insights and support client-facing activities. Communicate credit decisions and recommendations effectively to clients and internal teams.
  7. Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, macroeconomic developments, and regulatory changes affecting credit markets in Hong Kong and globally. Analyze industry trends and competitor activities to inform investment decisions and risk management strategies.
  8. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive credit memos, risk assessments, and other internal reports/documentation to document credit analysis findings, recommendations, and decisions. Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation in compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA) is a plus.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in credit analysis or a related field within the financial services industry.
  3. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, assess credit risk, and make informed decisions.
  4. Solid understanding of financial markets, credit products, and industry dynamics, with specific knowledge of the Asia-Pacific region preferred.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely to both internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software/tools. Experience with financial modeling and data analysis preferred.
  8. Fluency in English and Mandarin is required.
