TEKsystems IT Security Project Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii

The Technical IT Security Project Manager will oversee and drive security initiatives, work with various stakeholders and internal IT teams, and ensure the protection and integrity of one of Hawaii's largest healthcare insurer's, information systems. Ideally this person has had previous technical security experience and recent PM experience.

They will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing security projects according to strict deadlines. This role requires a deep understanding of IT security technologies and best practices, including but not limited to data loss prevention (DLP), threat management, endpoint protection, Microsoft 365 security, and cloud security.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of projects.

  • Manage project budgets, track project performance, and ensure projects are delivered on time.

Security Implementation and Management:

  • Lead the implementation of data loss prevention (DLP) solutions to safeguard sensitive information.

  • Oversee the deployment and management of threat detection and response systems.

  • Ensure comprehensive endpoint protection across all organizational devices.

  • Manage Microsoft 365 security configurations and compliance.

  • Implement and maintain cloud security measures, including IAM, data encryption, and security monitoring.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.

  • Facilitate communication and coordination between various teams, including IT, security, compliance, and business units.

  • Prepare and deliver executive reports and presentations on project progress and outcomes.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify and manage project risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).

  • Conduct security assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls.

Technical Expertise and Guidance:

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise on security technologies and best practices.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.

  • Mentor and train team members on security practices and project management methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • Years of experience in IT security and 5+ years of project management experience.

  • Strong understanding of IT security technologies, including DLP, threat management, endpoint protection, Microsoft 365 security, and cloud security.

  • Proven experience managing complex IT security projects from initiation to completion.

  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is nice to have.

  • Strong knowledge of security standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.

  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are a plus.

  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools is nice to have.

  • Knowledge of network security and firewall management.

  • Experience in conducting security awareness training programs.
