Job Summary: The Specimen Processing Supervisor is responsible for the daily functions of their department with the goal of meeting the departmental metrics which can include but are not limited to quality, productivity, turnaround time, engagement, and financials that tie into system level goals.The supervisor maintains, engages, and develops the staff within their department and coordinates with the manager for any cross functional staff. The supervisor also bears the regulatory supervisor responsibilities as delegated by the laboratory director and assistant directors.In coordination with the directors, managers, and other system leaders, the supervisors are responsible for projects and process improvements in their departments that fulfill the needs of our clients, organization, and regulatory bodies.The primary measures of success typically will be turnaround time achievement, continuous improvement in lab operations, employee experience & satisfaction, and active support for healthy revenue growth of the overall company.

Requirements: *Bachelor's degree or College level training in science with good understanding of volumetric/gravimetric measurements + 5 years laboratory experience, preferably in a lab setting. Major Duties and Responsibilities: *Serve as an organizational leader with responsibility for overall performance of the department operation. *Maintains the department in a state of acceptable inspection readiness to meet all regulatory compliance standards. *Schedules work and personnel tasks to meet laboratory requirements for reliable, timely and cost-effective processing of all specimens. *Supervises staff, hires/fires, manages performance and reviews, initiates disciplinary action, and recommends salary changes. *Develops career goals and training plans, reviews employee performance, and provides continuing education. *Provide retraining/remediation when non-conformance is identified, and corrective actions occur. *Acts as a supportive resource to other areas of the company. *Actively prepares and reviews SOP's and performs final review for inspection readiness. *Coordinates laboratory services along with other department supervisors *Prepares justification for additional resources (equipment and personnel) to ensure uninterrupted service and continuous improvement of services. *Has demonstrated expertise in specimen processing procedures. *Maintains regular and reliable attendance. *Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: *Lab Ops Acumen: lab supervisor expertise; extensive knowledge of laboratory processes associated with analysis of biological samples; high lab system literacy; ability to comprehend regulations that govern clinical and forensic laboratory SOPs and apply them to operations; familiarity with law enforcement and forensic science disciplines of Drug Identification and/or forensic toxicology. *Customer & employee-centric: empathetic and curious leader focused on both the customer and employee experience; prior experience managing teams and/or team leader experience. *Analytical thinker: ability to read, analyze and interpret complex technical data, procedures, and instructions in verbal, written, mathematical or diagrammatical form. *Change agent: ability to proactively and enthusiastically drive change while influencing employees to embrace it. *Forward thinker: has the aptitude for c eative and innovative thinking and analysis. *Communicator: ability to frequently and positively communicate with employees and other internal stakeholders; ability to make effective speeches/presentations to management, public groups and/or scientific forums *Proactive problem solver: sensitive to leading metrics, solutions oriented by anticipating problems and bringing the organization's attention to resolve in a timely manner. *Results-oriented: demonstrated track record of improving lab ops with a deep sense of ownership and accountability; perseveres through ambiguity with ambition, optimism, and energy. *Relationship builder: ability to establish and sustain productive relationships at multiple levels of an organization. *Project manager: strong knowledge of project management concepts and ability to balance competing demands of quality, scope, cost, time, plans and resource allocation. *Collaborator: ability to leverage internal partners to support technical and operational aspects of lab ops strategy; skillful negotiator with internal teams *Leadership presence: the ability project competence and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality; track record of building followership. *Technically savvy:proficient in LIMS and MS office applications

Physical Demands: *Ability to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to manipulate computer keyboard, objects, or controls. *Requires moving/carrying objects from one work location to another and sitting sometimes for periods of time. *Specific vision abilities (with correction) include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. *Ability to travel as needed for court testimony. *Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment. *Exposure to fumes, noxious odors and dust. *Handling of biological material and blood-borne pathogens. *Handling of toxic or caustic chemicals.
