The VP, IMM GMAF Dermatology & Rheumatology will lead the GMAF Dermatology/Rheumatology medical teams and will work closely with Regional/Country MAF teams, Market Access, Commercial teams, Research and Development (R&D), and Compound Development team (CDT) to develop and execute medical activities. This role is responsible for leading and accelerating the delivery of innovative medical affairs strategies, rigorous medical launch plans, worldwide integrated evidence generation plans and comprehensive scientific communications & external engagement plans. This role will ensure dedicated focus on speed to impact for the Dermatology & Rheumatology portfolio which includes TREMFYA, JNJ-2113, JNJ-1459, and JNJ-4804. The VP, Dermatology & Rheumatology will have accountability for developing new skills and capabilities required to launch new modalities and build expertise for launching therapies where treatments are first or only in market.

Strategy

  • Design overarching strategic and tactical plans necessary to grow Johnson & Johnson’s world class Dermatology & Rheumatology portfolios resulting in transformational patient outcomes

  • Provide strategic direction in close collaboration with internal stakeholders: (R&D, CDT, medical affairs teams and Commercial partners, Market Access and others) across the medicine life-cycle. Medicines include TREMFYA, JNJ-2113, JNJ-1459 and JNJ-4804.

  • Development of a strategic portfolio approach in Dermatology & Rheumatology

  • Shape clinical development of lifecycle and new products through insights and needs of worldwide market captured from global stakeholders

Key Deliverables:

  • Rigorous Medical Affairs Strategies for all Dermatology & Rheumatology programs designed to support medical adoption for therapies that are first and/or only to market.

  • Medical Launch Plans, inclusive of plans for external scientific engagement

  • Delivery of a comprehensive WWIEGP, including the development and implementation of the post-approval clinical trial plan

  • Oversight of flawless execution of data dissemination plans and implantation of innovative communication modalities

External Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain robust strategic relationships/cooperation with leading external experts to build and maintain external expertise for the priority brand and consequently advocacy consistent with TA strategies and initiatives.

  • Provide medical leadership in interactions with external stakeholders (HA bodies, external experts, advisory boards, alliance partners)

  • Build external reputation of the Immunology organization as credible experts and indispensable partners.

Execution:

  • Provide leadership and scientific input to key medical affairs deliverables (eg. medical platform, training modules, advisory boards, local and global scientific symposia)

  • Provide scientific support and medical affairs task related guidance to local affiliates specifically in executing on agreed pre-launch and launch plans.

  • Support SEL to ensure adequate internal control over financial reporting related to the assigned brand

  • Deliver Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO) financial commitments

  • Ensure ongoing MAF research budget tracking and monitoring, working in close partnership with Medical Affairs Operations

  • Conduct business in compliance with all applicable laws and internal directives and according to generally accepted standards

Leadership

  • Lead the Dermatology & Rheumatology teams with a focus on high functioning team, building a culture of innovation, competitiveness and collaboration

  • Provide effective people leadership, mentorship, coaching and performance management to the team as well as lead talent strategies across medical affairs

  • Lead the Global Medical Affairs Dermatology & Rheumatology teams through growth and change

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree: MD/DO, PharmD or PhD or international equivalent required

  • Clinical credentials (residency training, postdoctoral fellowship, Medical Specialty Board certification, current/active medical licensure, etc.) are strongly preferred

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant progressive pharmaceutical experience is required

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of people management experience is required

  • Multi-level people leadership experience preferred

  • Experience in the Immunology therapeutic area is highly preferred

  • Experience in both global and regional settings is highly preferred

  • Launch experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to influence scientific debate and decision making

  • Proven track record in driving organizational change in large multi-regional corporate settings

  • Experience designing and implementing new capabilities

  • Ability to drive projects forward to completion through planning and organizational skills while maintaining focus on the long-term strategy

  • Strong collaboration/matrix management, influencing, strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to successfully work across functional and geographic boundaries, preferably across multiple countries/market types/access models

  • Deep appreciation of science and ability to translate into strategy

  • Demonstrated learning agility and the ability to effectively influence portfolio strategies based on insights and foresights to future scientific direction

  • Proven strategic thinking and strategic commercial skills across product and lifecycle

  • Ability to drive projects forward to completion through planning and organizational skills while maintaining focus on the long-term strategy

  • Proven track record on ethics and Credo principles

  • Up to 20% travel is required

  • This position is located in Horsham, PA and follows a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remotely per week
