Position: Chief Scientific Officer (Fractional - Remote) About Us: Systemic Bio is a fast-growing biotech company with a $15M seed investment focused on advancing pharmaceutical drug discovery and development through the application of advanced bioprinting technologies and our h-VIOS organ-on-a-chip platform. We are a 3D Systems subsidiary leveraging their breakthrough, production-level bioprinting technology to create highly precise vascularized organ and disease models using biomaterials and human cells. Our proprietary organs-on-chips can be manufactured reproducibly in large quantities, and then perfused with drugs to study the effects on healthy or diseased tissue at the earliest stages of pharmaceutical drug development. We are looking for an experienced fractional Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to identify promising therapeutic development opportunities and support the establishment strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies. Key Responsibilities: · Lead the strategic identification of therapeutic areas and modalities where our h-VIOS platform could significantly impact drug discovery and development processes. · Cultivate partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, positioning our h-VIOS platform as a critical tool in their research and development efforts. · Continuously assess the competitive landscape and emerging scientific trends, integrating relevant findings into the company's strategic planning. · Represent the company in key scientific discussions and presentations with potential partners, clients, and at scientific meetings or conferences, effectively communicating the value and scientific backing of our h-VIOS technology. · Work closely with the R&D and business development teams to translate scientific capabilities into compelling partnership proposals and collaborative projects. · Provide insight and expertise on the regulatory pathway, especially relating to IND applications, and assist partners in understanding the implications and advantages of using the h-VIOS platform in this process. · Advise and contribute scientifically to the company's intellectual property strategy regarding the h-VIOS platform. Qualifications: · PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Pharmacology, Cellular Biology, Biomedical Engineering) or equivalent experience. · Minimum of 10 years' experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on drug discovery and development. · Strong track record in therapeutic candidate evaluation and understanding of the drug development process, including IND applications. · Established relationships within the pharmaceutical industry, with experience in building and maintaining strategic partnerships. · Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to a diverse audience. Commitment: · Remote position allowing for flexible integration into personal and professional pursuits. · Up to 20 hours per week, with adaptability in scheduling to accommodate key strategic meetings or presentations.
