Principal Financial Group Internal Sales Specialist - Group Benefits (Addison, TX or Houston, TX) in Houston, Texas

What You'll Do

As an Internal Sales Specialist , you’ll be responsible for pricing and positioning new business proposals through...

  • analysis and screening of bid specifications,

  • consultation with sales and account management on underwriting guidelines,

  • proactive communication and follow up with brokers and internal partners,

  • and data entry into our proprietary rating engine.

This position may also assist with broker education activities and may make periodic onsite visits to a broker’s office, in partnership with sales representatives.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 2+ years of experience required

  • Must obtain Life & Health licenses within 3 months and apply for required non-resident licenses

  • Must maintain licenses by meeting continuing education requirements

  • Requires ability to understand and maintain knowledge of insurance operations, products, and concepts with the ability to apply marketing strategies and systems

  • Requires strong planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills with the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills plus the ability to develop effective relationships and motivate producer behavior

  • Must have excellent computer and keyboarding skills

  • Must have excellent level Excel skills as well as Microsoft Office knowledge

  • Salesforce experience a plus

  • Must work well under pressure and be self-directed

  • Some travel may be required including overnight stays (5%)

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$53550 - $74550 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Location

Preference is for the position to be based in the Addison/Dallas, TX field sales office, but we’re willing to consider talent in our Houston, TX office location as well. The role will be hybrid allowing for a combination or reporting into the office and work-from-home.

Job Level

We are willing to consider hiring at the Sr. Internal Sales Specialist level depending on qualifications, experience, and skills.
