Transdev Maintenance Manager in Houston, Texas

Transdev U.S. has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to join our team.

Overview of role: The Maintenance Manager will report to the General Manager and oversee the fleet maintenance program to ensure safe and effective vehicle upkeep. A successful person in this position will have experience acting as adviser to upper management on potential issues with extensive experience in managing and producing reports. This person will have experience as a supervisor of supervisors and provider of guidance to technicians to ensure operational efficiency.

Manage Maintenance Department:

  • Oversee maintenance control, compliance, quality, and warranties.

  • Enforce policies, communicate service availability.

  • Manage a 200+ bus fleet with 65+ employee personnel.

Personnel Management:

  • Handle hiring, training, discipline, and performance.

  • Obtain approval for certain actions.

  • Ensure staff completes required courses.

Collaboration and Oversight:

  • Work closely with regional management, provide updates.

  • Operational Responsibilities:

  • Review repair orders, manage fuel, parts, and projects.

Efficiency and Safety:

  • Improve processes, assess workload, support technicians.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Technical training preferred

  • Possess CDL Operator’s license with required endorsements (if Applicable)

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and 5+ years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)

  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor or other management role requiring thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulations

  • Effective customer service skills for interacting on a daily basis with customer

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and/or customer in a positive manner

  • Advanced analytical, financial and decision-making skills

  • Strong experience with computerized diagnostics

  • Advanced proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and web-based application

  • Industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and transit bus equipment is preferred

  • Solid aptitude in planning and scheduling maintenance repairs (Daily, Weekly, Monthly)

  • Master ASE Certified in appropriate testing group for the location being managed. (preferred) Or willing and able to achieve.

Physical Requirements:

  • Maintenance Shop

  • May require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs

  • Must be able to work in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, and grease conditions.
