BWC Terminals Maintenance Operator in Houston, Texas

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, BWC Terminals is a premier provider of bulk liquid storage and logistics services to refiners, manufacturers, and distributors of bulk liquids in North America. PURPOSE

To provide diagnostics, maintenance, and repair support for BWC Terminal’s (The Company’s) equipment.

COMPENSATION

$25+ per hour, based on experience and certifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Below is a list of essential duties of this position. NOTE: Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Repair, fabricate, install, and remove a variety of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, as well as other related rotating equipment.

  • Using hand and power tools and/or stick welding, perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment. Dismantle machines, service or replace defective parts using standard repair or replacement parts and reassemble machines. Wire and rewire motors to service or repair. Replace and bearings and seals. Align, lubricate, and perform other maintenance duties to ensure equipment is functioning and maintained.

  • Ensure inventory of necessary parts is maintained. Order and stock spare parts, maintenance supplies, and similar items.

  • Read and interpret documents/manuals related to the facility’s structures and equipment.

  • Inspect equipment on a regular schedule to ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely per company and federal/state safety requirements.

  • Research and make recommendations of equipment/parts purchases.

  • Maintain necessary records and paperwork.

  • Demonstrate commitment to the Responsible Care system. Participate in, promote, and follow the Responsible Care system.

  • Interact and communicate with clients and co-workers in a professional and appropriate manner and respond to and give feedback in a respectful and positive manner.

  • Take the initiative to identify problems, use judgment to find appropriate solutions and follow through on resolving issues in a timely manner.

  • Support team efforts, actively work to generate respect and enthusiasm, cooperate with others, and actively learn from other team members.

  • Reports to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position and willing to perform the duties as workload necessitates.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES, MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in equipment maintenance

  • Highly skilled and knowledgeable in using hand/power tools, mechanics, electrical, and welding techniques to service and repair equipment

  • Pump knowledge preferred.

  • Ability to diagnose and trouble-shoot problems and repairs

  • Customer service focus

  • Ability to have or obtain a TWIC card

  • Ability to wear safety equipment, including respirator, safety shoes, goggles, gloves and similar equipment

  • Ability to become certified and operate a motor vehicle, forklift, and similar equipment

  • Mechanically inclined and ability and skill in disassembling, repairing and assembling equipment

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, blueprints, drawings

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers; ability to write report/documentation

  • Ability to change duties throughout the day and to work with a variety of individuals

  • Ability to interact with others in a professional and appropriate demeanor, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently with general direction from supervisor

  • Capable of reporting to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position and willingness to perform duties as workload necessitates

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Working Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is often exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including rain and heat/cold, noise, fumes, grease, oil, noxious odors, cleaning chemicals, paints, glues, and solvents. Approximately 90% of the workday is outdoors.

Physical Requirements/Activities: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, climb and balance on ladders of heights of 15-65’, walk on elevated walkways, docks, railcars, and tanks, access confined areas/railcar bottoms, carry and reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, feel, and use tools and equipment and communicate (talk and hear). This position involves standing/bending/stooping/walking/climbing for approximately 90% of the workday. Frequently the employee is required to kneel, bend, crawl, crouch, push, pull, lift, or twist. Occasionally the employee is required to lift or exert force of more than 50 pounds. Frequently, the employee is required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required is close vision of 20 inches or less and vision ability of greater than 3 feet.
