Visiting Assistant Professor, Counseling
Description
The Department of Counseling, Special Education and Diversity (CSED) at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a one-year faculty position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level for the Counseling program, beginning Fall 2024 and can be renewed depending on need. T he Visiting Assistant Professor may apply for a tenure-track position if one is advertised, and the required qualifications are met.
Duties:
Teach undergraduate and graduate counseling courses
Contribute to curriculum development and accreditation data collection/documentation
Supervise interns and maintain collegial relationships with others
Work cooperatively with area public schools and community agencies as appropriate
Maintain an active counselor educator identity
Participate in program, college and university committees and professional organizations
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited university
Successful university teaching experience
Record of scholarly work
Excellent communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively with program and university faculty and staff
Demonstrated service
Texas LPC and/or School Counselor licensure/certification or eligibility
Preferred:
Experience as a school counselor (CSC) or counselor (LPC)
Experience teaching clinical mental health and school counseling students
Experience using an LMS and teaching in hybrid formats
Experience with CACREP accreditation process
Experience in supervising interns or counselors in school systems and/or agencies
