Merit Apprenticeship Alliance Apprentice - Skilled Construction Craft Laborer in Hudson Valley Region, New York
Apprentice will be provided on-the-job training in heavy highway, building and enviromental construction tasks. Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools of construction helpful. The Apprentice:oParticipates in site/project preparation and maintenanceoCleans construction site to eliminate possible hazards. Participates in the operation and care of tools and equipmentoErects and disassembles scaffolding, shoring, braces, and other temporary structures. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials. oSignals equipment operators to move machinery, equipment, and materialsTends pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools and equipment oInstalls utility, sewer and pipe constructionoPerforms road construction activities involving asphalt, concrete and concrete supports, highway signs, guard rails and landscaping.oWorks in excavations, with weather protection, fencing and masonry operations.Classroom training is provided during the non-construction season.
