Here at the Mick George Group, we are hiring a Fleet Maintenance Manager

Job Overview:

The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for the continuous and effective management of the company’s maintenance operation thereby ensuring that all companies’ vehicles and trailers are kept in a fit and roadworthy condition.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct any action to be taken on faults reported throughout the course of the shift

  • Monitor the status of any vehicle currently broken down and liaise with maintenance contractors, manufacturers, hire companies and dealers to ensure that faults are rectified in a suitable timely manner.

  • Ensure that vehicles and trailers that are not roadworthy are taken out of service;

  • Audit each preventative maintenance inspection (PMI) report to ensure that the inspection has been recorded to an acceptable standard, that the vehicle is roadworthy and that any faults recorded have been booked for rectification in-line with the severity of the fault. Where the vehicle was booked for faults to be repaired, ensure the faults have been rectified and documented to this effect.

  • Address sub-performance of the above with the respective workshop/dealership

  • Identify where faults found at inspection have not been recorded previously by the driver and instruct the administrative team to correspond with the driver highlighting the shortcoming.

  • Manage all third party aftersales agreements or other arrangements; including but not limited to R&M and service contracts.

  • Oversee the reporting/recording of driver defects to ensure that any faults recorded have been booked for rectification in-line with the severity of the fault

  • Ensure all vehicles meet the requirements of the FORS Silver accreditation scheme

  • To review and comprehensively report on any shortcomings such as vehicle prohibitions and annual test failures.

  • Check and authorise/refute third party pro-formas related to the provision of vehicle maintenance service.

  • Review continual fleet and individual vehicle operating costs and where necessary, make recommendations to fleet and senior managers as to changes to maintenance and operational models

  • Visit third party premises to review and appraise vehicles and trailers that the company is considering purchasing

    Skills/ Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within an similar role, working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience of working in, or knowledge of the vehicle maintenance would be advantageous.

  • A proactive approach to work with a robust character.

  • Excellent organisational skills.
