Electronic Hardware Technician

Overview

SimTech, Inc., named as a2024Best Place for Working Parents,has an immediate need for anElectronic Hardware Technician,to join our growing, diverse and dynamic team in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

Perform highly skilled hand soldering, read technical drawings, and specifications.

Fabrication of cables and breakout boxes specific to technical drawing.

Use of hand power tools for fabrication of breakout boxes.

Produce high quality prototypes in a fast-paced environment.

Perform preventative maintenance on various types of equipment and maintain all records.

Ability to compose procedures for various operations.

Provide various electronic testing support as needed.

Some travel may be required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Technical career training in related field or discipline from an accredited institution.

Related IPC certifications preferred.

Minimum of 5-year experience in cable harness assembly and repair.

Must be able to work from schematics, diagrams, written/verbal descriptions or from defined plans.

As a part of the final selection process, a demonstrative skills assessment will be required. This assessment will include a demonstration of hands on soldering consisting of solder cup connectors and cable assemble.

Candidate must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision; dynamic, highly motivated individual that can effectively demonstrate both technical and communication skills.

Ability to move up to 50 pounds.

Candidate must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.

U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Security clearance preferred. Ability to maintain the designated security clearance level is required.

Physical Description

Employees in these positions will function in a general office/cubicle setting environment, and laboratory/testing setting and equipment assembly area using standard office equipment and various electronic testing equipment, including a computer, telephone, printers, video equipment, computer software and testing equipment. Will interact in a general office/testing setting with various personnel; participate in meetings and contribute to team success; deliver timely results and produce reports; receive and communicate information; may include telework. May function in a specialized laboratory/testing environment using electronic testing equipment, computer software and complex systems. Laboratory environment may require use of protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to safety glasses, protective hearing, protective footwear and lab coat. May move, test and assemble equipment of various weight; utilize various electronic testing equipment. May be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization due to business demands; travel occasionally for assigned work.
